  • 1 piece beef chuck roast (3-4 lbs)
  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) French onion soup
  • 1 cup beef broth Can be replaced with homemade stock for richer flavor
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh thyme or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, sear the beef roast on all sides until it’s beautifully browned.
  • Place the sliced onions at the bottom of a baking dish and position the seared roast on top.
  • In a bowl, combine the French onion soup, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and minced garlic. Pour this mixture over the roast.
  • Season everything with salt and pepper to your liking.
  • Cover the dish tightly with foil and carefully place it in the preheated oven.

Cooking

  • Let it cook for approximately 3 to 4 hours, or until the roast is tender and can be easily shredded with a fork.
  • Once done, remove it from the oven, allow to rest for a few minutes, and garnish with fresh thyme or parsley if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

Serve with creamy mashed potatoes or crusty bread for dipping. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days, or freeze in individual portions for up to 3 months.
